Student Representative
Greetings!
My name is Aalayia Otis, and I hold the esteemed position of student representative for the National Coalition for Black Development in Family and Consumer Sciences (NCBDFCS). As a sophomore majoring in Human Ecology with a concentration of Fashion Merchandising at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, it brings me great joy and honor to serve on the Coalition's board and advocate for student interests. The Coalition, established over four decades ago, stands as an indispensable resource for students aspiring to careers in Family and Consumer Science and related fields. The Coalition's goals are ones I support. Some of these goals include reinforcing the role of Family and Consumer Sciences programs at Historically Black Institutions, offering career enhancement opportunities for the forthcoming generation of black professionals, and acknowledging and documenting the achievements of professionals of African descent. I highly recommend becoming a member of the Coalition, you won’t regret it! |
